Round Three With Jadelyn's seizures

The week after Christmas was mostly spent relaxing helping Jadelyn get over a bug she had gotten. Trying to keep her down and rested was hard for a stubborn and on the go kid. Kyle and I had decided not to go out for your anniversary and stay home with our sick little girl. Thankfully we did.
Here is an account to the best of my memory. It has more details than you may want to read but it is a way for us to remember all the details of the day.
Around 8:30 New Years Day all the memories and worries about Jadelyn having another seizure came flooding back in one millisecond. Hearing her gasp for air and watching her little body convulse, then so stiff with the eyes rolled back for a minute and a half to two minutes, then watch her go to sleep was something I had seen two too many times. Kyle and I were in shock at first that it had happened again, but we knew just one wasn't an emergency. I started making the mental plans of what I needed to do to get her help on Monday. Relaxing a little I just snuggled close by thankful for my little one. At 11:30 my heart raced again. Seeing Jadelyn go through another seizure in a short time was getting a little hard to handle. Tears were flowing now and concern was setting in. After talking to a nurse it was recommended that we bring her in to pediatric urgent care. We went in not sure what to expect or what they could do . She hadn't recovered to her normal self. When we got to urgent care around 12:40 they told us the office was closed for lunch and we could wait until 1:30 when they opened again. Explaining what happened a nurse came to assess Jadelyn. Again another moment of panic hit, Jadelyn falls back in my arms and seizes for a third time. The doctor tells the nurse to call 911. We were frustrated by the care of the nurse and doctor who didn't seem competent. The ambulance and paramedics show up and off to the ER we go. (Again an ambulance ride for the third time). At the ER the nurses and the doctor are quick to get us a bed and get the information on her. As Kyle is finding his way back to us Jadelyn has a forth. The doctors are quick to respond and see if she needs help. The time was around 1:30 - 2 clock. I think. At this time I started to feel slightly relieved to know we were being helped but concerned if she was going to have any more and when would they stop. We were told that they were going to take some blood, start her on anti seizure medication and admit her for the night. I passed the time hugging and cuddling with her until the moved us to the pediatric unit around 7. As we get our bed, Kyle heads out to move the car and Jadelyn has her fifth seizure of the day. I call for the doctors and nurse in hopes they can witness one. Fortunately/unfortunately it was one of the shorter ones she had that day. Now the doctors really want make sure she is on anti seizure medication. While at the hospital she was put on oxygen, and hooked up to a heart rate monitor for breathing and oxygen level. We all try to relax and fall sleep for the night. At this point we were told that sometime after her EEG on Monday we could be released.
Sunday was full of sleep and observing Jadelyn. A chest x-rays were ordered to see if there was an infection they needed to take care of. They started focusing on her being sick and less on the seizures because it had been awhile since her last seizure. At dinner time Jadelyn was her happy self, talking, making jokes, laughing and even starting to eat. However, after coughing hard she changed and went from herself to being conscious but unresponsive. Talking to her and asking her questions she would look around but not respond to anything going on around her. The doctors explained the medication was working but caused a different type of seizure. So this was her sixth seizure. Our hearts were broken at this point. We struggled with seeing our girl recover only to be taken away from us again. This meant at least another day and night in the hospital. During the night she was put on antibiotics because her chest didn't sound good.
Monday morning, Jadelyn had an EEG scheduled and the EEG showed only slowing of the brain because of the seizure medication, but not in an area of the brain where the seizures were happening. I think that she was also taken off oxygen this day. I think sometime in the evening she had another absent seizure. Now they were talking about trying to put her on the anti seizure mediation she was on before since it had worked before. They didn't want to take her off the IV medication since it was only IV type and had used it to load her body with medication. It will take weeks before her old medication can take its full effect. Again that meant another day in the hospital.
Tuesday was another day of rest and relaxing. She started becoming more alert. The doctors were encouraged that she was not having more seizures. They also wanted to have her start taking her seizure mediation orally for two doses before they wanted to send her home.
Wednesday morning the doctors said things look good and we could be discharged!!! It was wonderful news. In a short period of time we were on our way home!!!
During this time we were blessed with prayers of so many people! It helped us feel calm and at peace. We were also blessed with friends and family that brought us food and offered to help us in any way.
